Finding our way around Ruapotaka
Orienteering was fun for everyone. Learning about the symbols on a map, how to use a map, how to read a map and following north, south, east and west were all apart of orienteering. We always looked forward to our lesson with Leon because we were able to find controls all around Ruapotaka school.
We were learning how to read a map.
Following directions and finding our way.
We found a control and found ourselves in the corner of the multi-purpose room.
Liza learning how to read a map and find her way.
Asking Leon questions.
Still following our maps.
Learning about what orienteering is before we head out into the field.

A Day At The Zoo
We have been learning about predators and preys. We were very fortunate to see the awesome animals at the zoo especially because we have learned a lot about whether they are hunted or the hunters.
All we had to do was observe how the animals acted. We noticed different things including their interaction with other animals. How they treated each other.
The lion den was a class favourite!
The otters were sleeping most of the time but we were able to catch a glimpse of them at one point.
Giraffe drinking water.
These baboons were also a favourite. This was more funny behavior displayed by the baboons.
The seal was awesome. In this beautiful blue home we were able to see the seal swim and eat food.

Who's going to win it?
Weeks of training and building stamina has lead this group of hard workers to compete for the longest skipper. It was a very long skip off and to skip for that long only showed how much our winners had to practice. Awesome job to all students who participated.
First place: Limiteti
Second place: Fakaola
Third place: Meana
Well done!!!

Learning about the friendly island of Tonga
Malo lelei , we have just completed an awesome inquiry topic - Tonga! It has been very interesting investigating the unique Tongan culture. These are some of the traditional foods from the Kingdom of Tonga. A lot of us have tried it for the first time today and wow did we love it!
We had some visitors that have also studied this inquiry topic.
Kain looks like he's enjoying that lu sipi and talo.
It was definitely a new and different meal from what some of us normally have. I hope everyone enjoyed it!
Malia, Joanlisi and Mary-Ruth brought some beautiful colourful outfits to celebrate the occassion.

We will miss you soo much Dominic!
I wish you luck at your new school and have fun.
Enjoy your life the way you want and take care! We will miss you.. a lot!

Edit and check!
We have been learning to become a strong writers and to edit and check our writing thoroughly. A lot of the time we miss mistakes and don't realize it. So here we have completed and checked the writing of a peer. This is helping us understand how we can help others improve their writing and also help us spot the mistakes we see in others writing and miss in our writing.

My learning goals for this term by Mary-Ruth
This year for my goal is to encourage people, if they need help and to show love to people when they are stuck on their work. My goals for maths is to do more than one strategy if their is a hard equation. I even want to learn my 6 to 12 times tables. For writing I have to add punctuation and to add more information so that my audience are interested and they can understand my writing and lastly for reading my goal is to understand the main text in the book and to read everyday at home and also to focus while while reading.

My Term One Goals by Riiana
On week two of school, we had to work on our term one goals like every other year. We all had to write it in our general book or on a piece of paper if we didn't have our stationary. It took me a few tries for my writing and reading goals, but maths and general took one take! I overthink my goals a lot.
These are my goals that I want to complete before the end of the term.

Saving the world with Duffy
WHAT AN ADVENTURE!
Duffy took us on a journey with Global Girl and it was full of fun, learning and EXPLOSIONS!
Duffy was very lucky to receive his very own cape. What an honor! Of course if you save the world like Global Girl you're going to need an awesome cape.
Remember the science experiment! Live experiments that showed us an explosion in seconds.
A lot of us were just learning abut how we affected the world we live in.
Including how we affect the beautiful moana that surrounds our lands.
Duffy definitely showed us how we affect our living world. We learned that courage with reading benefitted Global Girl and helped her on her mission to save the world.

Swimming in the cool water
We have kick started swimming and the weather has been awesome!
Practicing our swimming skills has been challenging but has also reminded us of how much we need to improve. This is going to be very useful when we swim in the holiday with our families.
